Interview with Mr. Balachandran V.

I am very excited about this series and hope you too would enjoy these interviews. The idea is to interview the fellow bloggers I frequent; to get to know them a little better & to introduce them to you... If I haven't contacted you already but you would like to be part of the series, please email me at nrigirl at hotmail dot com. My sincere thanks to the bloggers for their time and effort. Here's presenting the first in the series.

Please welcome Mr. Balachandran V. who writes My Travels, My Life:... It is this title that caught my attention when I drifted into his blogosphere. I must add I truly enjoy his posts, some I can relate to and some I do not, and that's what makes it all the more fun. Let's now start with his famous quote:

"This is just to let you know that I have passed by. Perhaps in a rare moment of quietness you will go through what I have written - and think of me with kindness... "

? Can you tell us a little about yourself? Please include where you are from.
! Born and brought up in Kerala, native of Trivandrum, have lived all over Kerala. 53 year old male, 5'8", overweight 12 kg! Married, one son 19-year old, who chose Psychology for his studies because he couldn't understand his parents! Wife, Parvati is a professor in Botany. At banking for 30 years, not by choice, but by circumstances.

... Interested in everything except politics, religion and stock market. Used to trek in Himalayas and Western Ghats avidly; considers Nature as the only God worth respect and love. Other major interests are: Nature conservation, organic farming, Kathakali, English literature esp., poetry and dogs. Have written scripts for several documentaries on nature conservation and environment. Contributes book reviews, articles and poems regularly for a magazine published from Trivandrum. Published a collection of poems in English, 'Signs of Love' (publisher: Writers Workshop, Kolkata) Could go on and on and on...

? How did you first get involved in blogging?
! Chanced upon it through Internet.

? What do you do when you aren’t blogging?
! Dreams of bettering the world.

? How did you come up with the name for your blog?
! My travels, My life: 'My', because it constitutes my experiences; travels, not only physical shift from places to places but on a mental plane too; 'Life', because it is the only thing that is real.

? What is your favorite post that you have written? What makes it special?
! Too many. My poems on nature and passionate love are my favorites. Honesty, simplicity and subtle intonations of spirituality are the hallmarks of my writing.

? Any regrets about any of your posts?
! Nope. Never.

? Tell us a joke please.
! Man is the most intelligent of all creatures.

? What can readers expect in your blog? What is it about?
! The unexpected. Basically my posts are my reflections on my experiences, but I write ( I hope!) in such a way that the reader can identify with the situations I write about, because they have a universal nature and thus gain insights into our life. Readers can expect great love in my writing; even when I write with anger, the anger is born of love.

? Is there anything else you want to share?
! Nope. Whatever is fit to be shared with readers, I post in my blog.

? Now, if you have a question for me (NRIGirl) this is your chance to ask.
! No questions; but am willing to listen.

Thank you, Hephzibah, for making me famous! :)

I am stickler for time and promptness in replying. Invite me to a wedding, I will be there before the hall decorator. Ask me to meet at a given time, I'd have downed a couple of beers before you even remembered the appointment! I never thought I'd be the first in your series of interviews and am kinda awkward, sitting at the head of a vacant dining table! Were I too fast in replying? Guess I took about 5 minutes. Well, even if you had given me 5 hours, these would be the same answers, maybe except the joke - it is a real joke, anyway! :)

Once again, thanks for your kind and encouraging words - makes it all worthwhile. Like your scanned up hand-written e-mails sometime ago, this is something novel - you are good at bringing people together!

Thank you for being the first to take up the interview. It has given me some idea as to how to answer the questions.your interview made me to visit your blog site and read about the Island express tragedy due to human carelessness. I do not know what to say on this.
very glad to know about your wife with whom I have an affinity since I too worked as a lecturer/Hod in a famous college for about 37 years and now am retired.
wish you both the very best.---NRI girl's mother.
