What is Rapture?

The Bible teaches us about an event that is soon to happen, imminent if you will, when Christ returns to take His bride (the Church or in other words the believers) with Him. This is called 'rapture' which also means 'caught up'.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 a detailed description of what to expect during rapture. "...the dead in Christ will rise, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord." Few related verses posted below:

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16

And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. Matthew 24:31

This is the blessed hope most christians are looking forward to. A group of believers claim it is only minutes away (as they claim it is May 21st 2011), however the Bible clearly tells us no one knows the exact date or time of when rapture will happen and hence the term 'imminent' meaning 'anytime'. Many world events we see and hear around us lead us to the day which is near.

Can it be today as some claim? May be, may be not. But I do believe He is returning very soon... and my desire is to be caught up together in the clouds to meet my Lord, my King!

I had a friend who is born again, used to talk to me about Rapture.I remember the Jahova witnesses never used to accept the concept.

1Th 4:17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Jesus goes on to describe the rapture itself:

Luk 17:34 I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left.
Luk 17:35 There will be two women grinding together. One will be taken and the other left."

And the parallel passage in Matthew places two men in the field (on different occasions Jesus, like preachers today would preach the same message with different words):
Mat 24:40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.
Mat 24:41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

The concept of a life hereafter,is the leading thought. And then, a judgement which makes you answerable for your deeds in this world.I am not stubbornly religious, still I keep the faith in the way I understand it.

in life time comes when one thinks the same dear,

in the night layin on our beds in front yard, when i look up in the sky and find evening unfolding its sheet glittering with stars,

i often thank him for blessing me with such peaceful moments, then i think about all the countless moments which are gone and now i hardly remember few especial ones,

then i think about the present one which is about to lost in the jungle of time,

i find myself as i crossed the bridge of life and now physically i am no more,

i see that every thing is going fine world is busy in his tasks

and my loved one also dont have much time to think about me,
in beginning it hurts,
but then one thought gave me smile that i will be meeting with WHOM,who made my journey so easy, who did not leave me alone ever and made me lead a simple peaceful life.

i become lighter then a feather and feel so full of joy and peace.
thanks for sharing dear god bless

Religion is not my subject so excuse me if I say something wrong.

Some religious books says about God (Christ for Christians, Lord Vishnu for Hindus..)but no one can really predict a specific date and time. I never believed on 21 May theory though it is possible that world may come to an end at some stage.

Even scientifically world will come to an end. This earth cannot hold more than 10 Billion people and we are already 7 Billion. I expect wide spread disease/deaths at some state in future to keep the balance. It will be painful and for some of us the world will end. It is depressing but ....I wish I could say it is not true.

Like A, I am not much of a believer in tales of any religions. And, I also feel that the earth will come to an end if we continue to exploit it the way we do, not due to anything else. But, I respect your beliefs.
