Interview with NRIGirl

Hello everyone! Hope you are all still with me as we meet our fellow bloggers one-on-one. I am truly impressed by the overwhelming response from readers and bloggers alike on this getting-to-know series. I am grateful to everyone who were willing to share. Only 3 bloggers turned down the offer among the 23 I had contacted. Few more coming our way, please stay tuned. Some of you had asked me to take the same interview myself and hence this attempt.

NRIGirl as we know her is my favorite, not because I am her but because I know her true self. I can guarantee that who you see is who she really is - no pretense. It was her intention to remain anonymous when she first started to blog, however she had to soon give it up and reveal herself as otherwise it was not just her true self.

As a lioness she might have loved being the center-of-attraction once but lately very cautiousely she is working towards doing more behind the scenes. One thing I am still working with her is to stop being opinionated. I agree she speaks her mind, but not necessary in most cases - now that is my opinion! Why should she bother to tell someone that their choice of wall color is not her favorite when indeed it is not her who is going to live there but the other person? But you see, to tell otherwise would sound to be pretense to her and so she tells what she really thinks. That's where I say she needs wisdom. She can just keep quite without telling anything - can't she? I am sure she is trying.

Okay, before I go on and on and on complaining about her let me give way to NRIGirl! The quote here is  from her award winning post: Garbage Collection.

"Imagine how it will be if we don't empty our garbage bins regularly. Now imagine keeping the garbage for years and years to come... Can we stand the smell of it? Will people care to stop by? Will it keep us all hale and healthy? Will it help improve the quality of life? Will it help make a happy family?"

?Can you tell us a little about yourself? Please include where you are from.
! This is NRIGirl! I have shared a lot about me in my posts however if you insist on a snapshot of who I really am, I suggest you check out my page: The Me I see.
I am originally from Karinkal and now belong to Manjuvilai (I can visualize my family laughing as Karinkal is my Papa's native and Manjuvilai is my husband's native). Currently we live in New Jersey.

? How did you first get involved in blogging?
! Writing has been my passion. When I say, 'writing' I don't mean serious stuff or fiction, I have always liked to write letters detailed with happenings at my end. For whatever reason I wasn't aware of blogs though I am in the field of Technology. I had slowly started hearing the word 'blog' here and there but didn't know how it worked. Then one day my friend casually mentioned she writes a blog and shared the link with me. I checked it out and knew immediately that that's where I belong.

In addition to NRIGirl, I do a daily devotional blog called: Coffee with Jesus & share my simple recipes on: NRIMenu.

? What do you do when you aren’t blogging?
! I work. Having a clean house is my passion. Computer Programming is my profession.

? How did you come up with the name for your blog?
! NRIGirl - Non Resident Indian Girl - because that's what I am.

? What is your favorite post that you have written? What makes it special?
! I would say all my poems are special to me as I am surprised every time I come up with one that even I could write poem. Of the other posts if I were to pick one I would say When I was a child - as it helped me grow up!

? Any regrets about any of your posts?
! Yes, I could have avoided the post Papaya.

? Tell us a joke please.
! Here's an NRI joke I had recently heard: There was this salon where as a promotional offer the salon owner decided to offer free hair cuts for a week.

One day a cop comes in for a hair cut, when he goes to pay the owner says it is on the house explaining the current offer. He thanks the owner and leaves. A little while later a flower shop owner stops by for a hair cut. After the work is done, when she goes in to pay she wasn't charged. She thanks and leaves. A little later an NRI shows up for a hair cut. The scene repeats.

The next day morning as the salon owner comes to open the store, there is a dozen donuts delivered at his door steps with a thank you note from the Cop for the free hair cut. A little later a dozen roses are delivered as a thank you token from the flower shop owner. All of a sudden a dozen NRI's show up at the stall saying they heard about the free promotional offer through their NRI friend!

? What can readers expect in your blog? What is it about?
! Traces of the past... Moments of the Present... Dreams of the future... Joy of Life... and lately they can get to know about fellow bloggers.

? Is there anything else you want to share?
! I must thank all of you - the readers and fellow bloggers who stop by my blog(s) as often as you can.

? Now, if you have a question for me (NRIGirl) this is your chance to ask.
! Hello NRIGirl! How are you doing?

NRIGirl,

Good to know more about you though we knew a lot anyway. You are not really opinionated. I do not get the impression.

Very good interviews you did. A lot of work went behind it.

Now I have a question for you...be opinionated...Who is your favorite blogger...I am going to put on the spot..haha.

NRIGirl said...

Here, putting you on the spot: YOU :)

Haha, very enjoyable NRIGirl. My question would be: did you find any of your questions a little bit awkward to answer?

"As a lioness she might have loved being the center-of-attraction once but lately very cautiousely she is working towards doing more behind the scenes." You have stolen my heart with this statement. Honesty, I like that in people!

Loved the interview! Loved the pic! Love to your family!
